Compartment Syndrome Following Robotic Pelvic Urological Surgery : Diagnosis and Management
نویسنده
چکیده
Compartment syndrome is the elevation of intra compartmental pressure to a level that impairs circulation by exceeding perfusion pressure[1]. The importance in understanding this condition is in it’s high-risk nature, diagnostic challenge and the urgency of intervention that is required with an acute presentation[1]. We present the commonest forms of compartment syndrome (lower limb and abdominal) which can present both intra and post-operatively during robotic pelvic urological surgery.

متن کاملLong-term outcomes of robotic mesh sacrocolpopexy.
The aim of the study is to evaluate anatomic and functional late-term outcomes of robotic mesh sacrocolpopexy (RMS) at a single tertiary-care institution. Following IRB approval, a retrospective chart review of a prospectively collected database on consecutive patients who underwent RMS for symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse and had 3 year minimum follow-up was performed. Data collected included...
متن کاملWell leg compartment syndrome after pelvic and perineal surgery in the lithotomy position.
OBJECTIVE Lower limb compartment syndrome after prolonged surgical procedures performed in the lithotomy position is a rare but potentially devastating complication. It is recognised after urological, colorectal, and gynaecological procedures. Sixteen cases of compartment syndrome after urological surgery have been reported. The objective of this study was to estimate the incidence of this comp...
متن کاملComparison of Intra-abdominal Pressure Measurement and Physical Exam for Diagnosis of Surgery Indication in Patients with Abdominal Compartment Syndrome due to Blunt Trauma
Background & Aims: Increase in abdominal pressure can lead to the so-called intra–abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) that is often observed during the first 24 hours after sever abdominal trauma and surgery. Measurement of the intra abdominal pressure through the bladder as a non-invasive measurement can provide a quick and accurate assessment of abdominal pressure changes. This study was per...
متن کاملHemophilic Pseudotumors: Diagnosis and Management
Prevention is essential for avoiding the complications of muscle hematomas (pseudotumors, compartment syndromesand peripheral nerve lesions) in hemophilic patients. This is achieved through early diagnosis of muscle hematomasand proper long-term hematological treatment until they have resolved (confirmed by image studies). Ultrasound-guidedpercutaneous drainage could be benefi...
